e are located in the quaint town of Occidental, nestled in the heart of Sonoma County, California. Sun Moon Company was founded in 1996 by Gahan Garner and his partner, Chrissy Kaufman. From the beginning, Gahan and Chrissy's vision was to offer simple, characteristic gemstones showcased in elegant and durable high quality settings. Today, we produce over 500 unique pieces a year, which is sold to selective gift shops and collectors around the globe.
un Moon Company's jewelry designs stem from Gahan's own inspirations, coupled with the handiwork of talented jewelers from the island of Bali. Numerous designs combine sterling silver and high carat gold, which has become the signature style of many Sun Moon pieces. Exceptional gems such as Paraiba Tourmaline from Brazil, Rainbow Moonstones from Madagascar, and Star Sapphires from Sri Lanka are featured in our distinctive pieces, along with chrysoprase, gem silica, tourmaline, star-ruby, tanzanite, and many others.
ahan started in the gemstone trade in 1991, working for Pan Geo Minerals in Sebastopol, California. While with Pan Geo, Gahan cut thousands of pairs of chrysoprase tongues and points, and developed an undying appreciation of the beauty and uniqueness of colored stones. At the time, even highly regarded Tiffany's had their chrysoprase cabochons cut by Pan Geo. Gahan also gained experience under the astute supervision of legendary bead maker Bob Hall, where he learned the fine art of handcrafting gem quality beads.
